Spend Thanksgiving Weekend in the Leech Lake Area

The Leech Lake area has a lot to offer guests of all ages. From family activities to craft beer tastings, you are sure to find something to do this holiday season. Plan a quick trip this year and get away from the chores of cooking and dirty dishes. We’ve got plenty of activities to enjoy, giving you a much-needed break from the holiday stress. Take a look at some of the fun activities happening in the area for Thanksgiving weekend 2018.

 

Thanksgiving Dinner

 

Immanuel Lutheran is offering a Thanksgiving dinner for anyone who wants to celebrate. There is no cost for the event, just a welcoming community of people to share the holiday. Pack your bags and celebrate in the beautiful area of Leech Lake. The event is from 11 am to 2 pm.

 

Beergo

 

Play the new craft beer Bingo known as Beergo at the Portage Brewing Company. Compete for prizes, all of which relate to craft beer, and treat the whole family to a night of fun. Those 21 and older can indulge in the craft beers, but guests of any age are welcome to the Brewing Company. They offer a whole menu of food and appetizer choices, making it a great stop after Thanksgiving dinner.

 

Black Friday Hike

 

A Black Friday hike is happening in the Paul Bunyon State Forest. Avoid the crowded stores and get ready to climb off the extra calories from the day before with a beautiful hike through the Chippewa National Forest. For more details, call 218-432-3910.

 

Night Before Christmas

 

Revisit the classic children’s tale, Twas’ the Night Before Christmas in this rendition by the Walker Bay Theater. Get the kids ready for the Christmas season after the turkey has settled. Tickets are available for $16 for adults and $11 for seniors and students. The show starts at 7:30 pm on Friday the 23rd and Saturday the 24th or at 3:00 pm on Sunday the 25th. Makers Market

 

Get a head start on your holiday shopping this season. The Makers Market at the Portage Brewing Company is your one-stop shop for all things local. The taproom turns into an open-air market, so grab a craft beer and sip your way around shopping this season. The market opens at noon on Saturday, November 24th.

 

Festival of Lights Parade

 

A variety of holiday activities will be happening in the area on Saturday. One of these is the Festival of Lights Parade. It happens in downtown Walker, getting everyone into the festivity of the season right on time.

Yoga

 

Get your mind and body ready for the holiday season with Yoga at the Portage Brewing Company. Purchase a four-class pass for the last classes of the season or drop in for one session. Yoga instruction by Northern Namaste Yoga. This program happens on Sunday nights in November starting at 5:30 pm.
