Minnesota Golfing: Leech Lake Edition
April 17, 2018
As the weather is getting warmer (or at least Mother Nature keeps leading us to believe…oh the way she toys with us here in Minnesota), golfers across the Midwest are daydreaming about getting outside and hitting a few rounds of golf.
If that sounds like you, pack up those golf clubs, throw the family in the car, and head to Leech Lake. The Leech Lake area is home to two golf courses and they are both open to the public.
LongBow Golf Club is an 18-hole Championship golf course and is guaranteed to offer a challenge to even the best golfers. LongBow is also home to a driving range so you can warm up that rusty winter swing before taking on the full course.
Tianna Country Club has been open for more than 90 years, and when you visit you’ll see why. This 18-hole, par 72 course, is right on the edge of the Chippewa National Forest so, while you get your game on, you can also take in Northern Minnesota’s most scenic views. Once you wrap up your game you can head into Tianna’s restaurant. Check out their menu.
The best part of visiting the Leech Lake area for your golfing trip is that it doesn’t have to be a day trip. Leech Lake offers many lodging options, including camping, hotels, bed & breakfasts, and rustic “Up North” resorts.
