Memorial Day Weekend Is Just Around The Corner!
May 19, 2021
Firstly, we at Leech Lake Tourism Bureau and our partners would like to thank the families and members of the armed services that have fought and served our country. Memorial Day is not just a day off but a day to honor the ultimate sacrifice so many of our brothers and sisters in arms have made for our nation.
We Thank You!

Saturday, May 15, was the official fishing opener for walleye, bass, northern pike and lake trout in Minnesota. Here is what you need to know!
Find the perfect stop with our fishing reports that are updated weekly! (CTA to Fishing Report)- What Are The Limits?
Let’s discuss new limits for 2021 from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. You can now keep 4 walleye on Leech Lake, and anglers on Leech Lake can keep one walleye that measures more than 20 inches. While you may have heard that whitefish have no limit on Minnesota lakes, please know that Leech Lake is your exception! You can keep 25 whitefish on Leech Lake, and 50 cisco, which are also known as tullibee. - License Rules Here:
Make sure everyone in your party who is 16 and older has a license. An annual fishing license lets you fish until Feb. 28! There are always lower-cost options as well, however.
If you’re purchasing a combination license, such as for a married couple, make sure you both bring your driver’s license or state license to Leech Lake if you’re over 21. Both are required now, as well as some personal information for each of you on file. However, one spouse can pick up their license first and the other can pick up theirs later, so you don’t have to be together at the time of purchase. - Do No Operate Well Under The Influence.
While you can drink a beer in your boat, stay under the legal limit of 0.8% BAC. Ask any rental facilities for their rules when renting a boat. Remember that Memorial Day on Leech Lake is a time for families, and we want everyone to come back and enjoy Leech Lake!
