Leech Lake Ice Fishing Report for January 29th, 2025
January 30, 2025
Report from the Dock
With January in the rearview mirror, many fishing reports indicate that everything is holding up well. Most walleye bites have slowed, as they usually do this time of year, but it’s not impossible to still catch a few fish. It seems to be more of that one to three walleyes an outing type of game, and most are being taken at night on minnows rather than spoons. Considering the constant changes in weather and timing of the season, walleyes have cooperated rather decently. Crappie reports remain solid, and, like the majority of walleyes, they’re also most active during low-light periods and overnight. Despite changing weather fronts and the up and down air temperatures during the past week to 10 days, crappies have been providing the most consistent bites in most parts of the state. Bluegill action remains a bit off, although there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of people fishing for them in most locations.
Leech Lake Ice Fishing Report
The Pine Point and Goose Island areas are giving up perch in 15 to 18 feet. You need to move and sort through some small fish, but there have been plenty of nice perch mixed in. Walleye action remains relatively slow, especially during the day. There are a few fish being caught overnight with minnows on the gravel structure in 20 to 24 feet.
