Leech Lake Ice Fishing Report for February 5th, 2025
February 6, 2025
Report from the Dock
Crappie Fishing has remained pretty solid across most parts of the state, as they seem to be biting much more consistently than walleyes and sunfish. The majority of fish are being found suspended over deep basin areas in most locations, although there are still crappies being caught from the mid-depth weeds as well. The best action continues to take place during low light periods and after dark, but if you are willing to drill a lot of holes and stay on top of them, you can catch crappies during midday hours as well. Sunfish reports have been all over the place- some good and some poor, with anglers struggling to find big fish on a regular basis. Like the state’s crappie bite, you’ll find sunfish deep and suspended or in the green weeds that remain. Walleyes seem to be mostly sluggish, dwindling to a fish, maybe two or three an evening on a good bite. It’s also worth noting that suckers and shiner minnows are tough to find.

Perch action has slowed a bit, but fish are still being caught around Bear Island, Pine Point, and flats on the north end in 12 to 16 feet. You’ll find a few walleyes mixed with the perch in these areas as well. Most walleyes continue to be caught at night on the gravel in 20 to 24 feet, the 25- to 30-foot humps in Walker Bay, and the 22- to 30-foot breaks off Cedar Point.
