Leech Lake Ice Fishing Report for February 12th, 2025
February 13, 2025
Report from the Dock
Based on most fishing reports this week, you really had to work to catch fish with any consistency. Unfortunately, it has been difficult to move around with the cold and wind most days. The weather, more than anything, seems to be the driving force behind much more inactive fish throughout the state. While anglers report seeing plenty of fish on their electronics, getting them to bite has been difficult. Crappies continue to bite with some regularity, mainly late in the day and after dark. The majority of good crappie action continues to involve suspended fish, low-light periods, and over deep basin areas on most lakes. Walleyes have been extremely tough to come by unless you’re on one of the state’s larger, more noted walleye lakes. Northern pike are also hitting in the mid-depth weeds, but finding bigger sunfish proved difficult. With additional snow last weekend, anglers are dealing with bigger drifts on some lakes.

If you drill holes and move around, the odds of catching bigger perch increase. Bear Island, Goose Island, and off Pine Point have been producing in 12 to 18 feet, although you’ll find perch in 18 to 25 feet off Roger’s Point and Paris Trench as well. Walleye activity has been hit or miss, with spurts of increased feeding at night on the gravel in 18 to 24 feet or off the points and flats in 12 to 14 feet. The 25- to 30-foot humps or 22- to 24-foot breaks in Walker Bay are also producing walleyes at night.
