Leech Lake Fishing Report for June 20th, 2025

June 20, 2025

Report from the Dock

It’s been another week of rising and falling water temperatures due to a series of weather fronts that moved through the state during the past week. In many areas, water levels have also risen due to heavy rain, which has opened a few more doors for anglers as well. Shorelines, current areas, culverts, and creek inlets or outlets have again started producing walleyes and pike on many lakes. With increased water flow, there were more reports of excellent river-fishing opportunities this week as well. Everything seems to be relating to moving-water locations if you have that option. Low-light periods of the day and weeds have also become keys for catching a few more walleyes. Anglers continue to find sunfish and bass in shallow water around docks and shorelines. The spawn should be about to be done, but they seem to be hanging in these traditional spawning areas a bit longer than normal.

Leech Lake Fishing Report

Generally, anglers are seeing plenty of walleyes on their electronics, but getting them to bite has been tough during the past week, likely due to a significant bug hatch. A spinner and crawler are producing some fish on the main-lake rocks in 16 to 18 feet, as is a slip bobber and jig tipped with a leech or piece of crawler along the weedlines in Sucker Bay. Bluegill action has been best in the reeds throughout Boy Bay, and muskie reports have been limited.
