Leech Lake Fishing Report for April 9th, 2025

April 10, 2025

Report from the Dock

It’s remained cool enough during the past week that lake and ice conditions really haven’t changed much. Basically, where people were ice fishing last week, they still could as of Tuesday morning. There’s been little additional deterioration to main-lake ice and shorelines along the far northern part of the state, and there are likely going to be ice-fishing options in those areas at least through this weekend, but the number of people still wanting to ice fish is minimal. As for open water, the cold week has also limited crappie fishing success, as water temperatures have remained low. While some crappies are being caught, most are being found staging outside of traditional early-spring locations. On the upside, the forecast called for a stretch of warm weather starting this week. So it’s likely any ice fishing opportunities that remained will come to an end, and shallow, dark bottom bays and channels will soon hold more crappies.

Leech Lake Fishing Report

You could have probably found a spot to get on the lake early this week, but most shorelines and accesses have now opened far enough that it’s no longer an option. There’s still a lot of main-lake ice, but it appears to be deteriorating quickly.
