Leech Lake Fishing Report for April 3rd, 2025
April 3, 2025
Report from the Dock
We’re officially winding down to the very end of the ice-fishing season. While there’s still ice to walk on, or possibly use an ATV on in a few areas, the ice-out line seems to be stretching farther north, certainly farther than it was last week. In addition, there have been few anglers taking advantage of the ice that remains. There are some “diehard” ice anglers venturing out, but most reports indicate that there’s little interest to fish through the ice any longer. Most thoughts have turned to open water fishing opportunities, which have been slow to develop, even where the ice has been out for a few weeks. It seems to be mainly a poor-weather scenario; it’s just been too windy and cold to get out and fish, which has also meant water temperatures have not increased much. Look for crappies to start moving shallow once it warms, or look for them to be staged just outside the shallows until it does warm up.
Leech Lake Fishing Report
Anglers were still getting on the lake with ATVs as of Tuesday, but some accesses and shorelines have started to open in different areas around the lake. Fishing pressure has been limited, with just a few perch reports coming out of Sucker Bay, Agency Bay, and around Sand Point in Walker Bay.
