Leech Lake Fishing and Hunting Report for October 15, 2025

October 15, 2025

Report from the Dock

Reports across the state this week indicated that many boats have been put away, and fewer people are still out fishing. But those still venturing out are doing well, especially for walleyes and crappies, as those species start to slowly move into their fall locations. Water temperatures are finally starting to go down. There hasn’t been a big drop, but it has cooled enough that walleyes are starting to feed more consistently for longer periods throughout the day, not just low-light periods. Standard fall presentations; live-bait rigs or jigs with minnows and crankbaits are now producing the majority of walleyes. Crappies are starting to move deep and suspend in many areas. You’ll still find pods of quality crappies and bluegills relating to weeds, but green weeds are key, and they don’t have to be deep. Muskie reports have been all over the place, and the fall sucker minnow bite hasn’t really taken off.

Leech Lake Fishing Report

Walleyes are being taken with a jig and minnow on the rocky points along the east side in 5 to 10 feet and around Pine Point in 9 to 12 feet. Muskies are shallow, 4 to 7 feet, and hitting bucktails. Perch action has been strong along the 5- to 9-foot weed edges throughout the lake, Walker Bay Narrows, and Sand Point area.
