Leech Lake Fishing and Hunting Report for November 5, 2025
November 5, 2025
Report from the Dock
Strong winds over much of last week, combined with this weekend’s firearms deer opener, have meant that fishing activity has been limited. In addition, most anglers have now put their boats away for the year as they begin to completely focus on the upcoming deer season and other upland hunting options.
There are a few diehard anglers still venturing out, muskie and walleye folks mostly, along with a few panfish anglers looking for slab crappies. If you can find large sucker minnows, they seem to be the ticket for muskies, as are bigger minnows such as chubs, redtails, and shiners for walleyes.
Deer have definitely started moving more, even during daylight hours. There were more reports from archery hunters that bucks have been chasing does this week.
Grouse-hunting reports have mostly been favorable, maybe not as good as last year, but still decent! Ducks are slowly trickling into the state, but there are fewer people hunting them.

Fishing pressure has been even more limited over the past week, mainly due to consistent winds and the fact that most anglers have put their boats away. Work the points, flats, and shorelines in 5 to 10 feet with a jig and minnow for walleyes. Look for perch off Sand Point in Walker Bay or the Walker Narrows in less than 7 feet. Muskie reports have been best on the shallow rocks.
