Leech Lake Fishing and Hunting Report for November 20th, 2024
November 21, 2024
Report from the Dock
There was quite a bit of fishing activity in many parts of the state through last weekend. But once the wind rolled in on Monday night and temperatures started to drop, it’s probably safe to assume that the open-water fishing season has officially ended. It’s expected to stay cold for an extended stretch as well, which has many anglers and bait shop owners excited for a potential start to the ice fishing season in the not-too-distant future. The firearms deer season is ongoing in some parts of the state, and most reports indicate that hunters have seen and shot more deer this year compared with last. Overall, participation seemed to drop a bit during the second weekend of the season, which is not unusual. The waterfowl season is closed in the northern zone but remains open through Sunday in the rest of the state. Hopefully the wind and cooler air push some ducks and geese around as the season wraps up.
Leech Lake Report
Just a handful of anglers were on the lake during the past week – perch and walleye anglers mostly – so fishing reports have been minimal. With cold weather moving in early this week, that will likely remain the case until walkable ice has formed.
