Leech Lake Fishing and Hunting Report for November 12, 2025

November 12, 2025

Report from the Dock

After the cold air moved in last week, many ponds, harbors, and some small, shallow bays developed a layer of skinny ice. In the far northern part of the state, some small, wind-protected lakes also skimmed over based on reports this week. But you can pump the brakes on any thoughts of ice fishing at this point, since most of what formed will likely be gone by this weekend as warmer weather moves back in.

Obviously, there hasn’t been much to talk on the fishing front due to the cold and the start of the firearms deer season. The deer season seems to have started alright, there didn’t seem to be any totally bad reports, and it sounded as if most people encountered more deer than they did a year ago.

There were a few exceptions, but people seem to be seeing and shooting more deer than last season, simply based on anecdotal reports. There’s also been more waterfowl moving around since the cold arrived – mallards and divers.

Leech Lake Fishing Report

Fishing pressure has been even more limited over the past week due to cooler weather and the firearms deer season. There’s some skinny ice along the shorelines and on most small, shallow ponds. There have been reports of a few more northern ducks on the lake this week.
