Leech Lake Fishing and Hunting Report for December 10, 2025
December 11, 2025
Report from the Dock
At the very least, you’ll find ice thick enough to walk on across the entire state. In some cases, ATVs and side-by-sides are now being used as well. Generally, ice conditions continue to develop nicely statewide, and anglers have just started blowing the dust off their ice fishing gear and taking advantage of the excellent conditions. Upper Red Lake remains busy with good ice and solid walleye bites early this week, and resorts on Lake of the Woods have started rolling this week, too. In other areas, there hasn’t been a lot of ice fishing activity, which obviously means fewer reports. The two most constant themes in a lot of locations are that anglers are waiting for ice thick enough to drive a small machine on before they go out, and those that are already venturing out are finding sluggish walleyes and panfish in many areas. With measurable snow early this week in some areas, you’ll want to keep checking ice and lake conditions as well.
Leech Lake Fishing Report
There’s about 6 to 10 inches of ice being reported on most of the main lake and in the bays. The exception is Walker Bay, which is now capped, but froze much later than the rest of the lake, so there’s less ice. A few anglers have been heading out late in the day and catching a few walleyes after dark on breaks or structure in 14 to 22 feet, but there hasn’t been a lot of fishing activity as of early this week. There’s also been some spear houses showing up in the bays.
