The fun at Leech Lake doesn’t stop once summer is done! The Leech Lake area offers many family activities all throughout the year, including many fall activities.

 

If you’re a golfer, the Leech Lake area is perfect for you! The golf season at Leech Lake extends well into the fall. To take advantage of the excellent Leech Lake golfing, book a tee time at one of the area golf courses this fall. The Longbow Golf Club, Tianna Country Club and Wedgewood Golf Course and Driving Range are all open to the public and only a short distance from Walker, MN. If you would rather spend the day with your whole family, the Wildwedge Mini Golf Course offers fun for all ages of children and adults.

 

Fall at Leech Lake is also the perfect time to check out the beautiful fall colors in the area. Taking a bike ride or walk on one of the area trails is one of the best ways to experience the fall colors. The Paul Bunyan trail is the longest Minnesota bike trail and offers 112 miles of fall sightseeing. Other biking and walking trails near Walker include the Heartland Trail that runs from Walker to Park Rapids and the North Country National Scenic Trail.

 

The renowned Leech Lake fishing is another fall activity that is not to be missed. Leech Lake is best known for its Walleye fishing, and it does not slow down in the fall! The Walleye in Leech Lake increase their feeding patterns in the fall to ready themselves for winter and can be found in abundance on the major points of the lake, including Cedar, Sugar, Roger’s, Stoney, Pine, Hardwood and Ottertail points. Fall at Leech Lake is also the perfect time for Muskie and Northern Pike fishing.

 

Fall is also the perfect season for a family boat ride on a crisp day at Leech Lake. Before the winter comes and the lake is covered in ice, make sure to take one last ride on Leech Lake to enjoy the beautiful sights that the area has to offer.
