Your Go-To Gift Guide for Outdoor Enthusiasts
December 14, 2015
It’s that time of year already. Time for family gatherings, yearly traditions and gift giving. If you feel stuck on what to give this holiday season, don’t worry. We’ve put together a list of some of our favorite items for all the outdoor lovers on your list.
The Hiker
Don’t underestimate the power of a good pair of socks. Cold feet make for an unenjoyable and long day on the trail. SmartWool has comfy, breathable socks, and are a great gift for the hiker in your family. Test them out on the Country Road 50 Walking Trail where you have eight miles of walking along side of the Shingobee River Valley.
The Paddler
When out on the water, one of the worst things that could happen would be to tip over and ruin any phones that may be on board. Make sure your favorite canoer or kayaker’s smartphone is safe by getting them a DryCASE smartphone case.
Days in a canoe can get long, and are not always the most comfortable. Check out REI’s Sit Pad for the paddler you know. The Sit Pad is easy to pack and inflate, and will work well in a canoe, kayak or as a cushion on the ground during a lunch break. With all of its bays, Leech Lake is the perfect place to explore while camping and kayaking this summer.
The Skier
From beginners to the advanced, skiers of all levels will take a tumble now and then. This season, give them the gift of comfort. Triple 8’s Bumsaver has shock absorbing foam throughout the hip and tailbone areas to make sure that your skier won’t leave the slopes sore this season.
The Hunter
Now that the firearms deer season has come and gone, some may be feeling the itch to get back outside. Cabela’s fun Camo Marshmallow Shooter is a fun gift for hunters to keep them sharp this winter. The Marshmallow Shooter can hold up to 25 marshmallows and is dishwasher safe, so you don’t have to worry about a sticky mess. This gift is fun for the whole family.
The Fisher
We love this fly fishing T-Shirt from Medium Control, based in Duluth Minnesota. It’s a perfect gift for the fisherman (or fisherlady) in your life. If you are looking for something to hang on the walls instead, this image is also available in a minimalistic style print in various colors. Keep up to date on the latest fishing news with our weekly fishing report.
The Biker
We found some fun stocking stuffers for biking enthusiasts. Check out Lorrie Veasey’s “This is How I Roll” coffee mug to help bikers get excited and motivated for the day. After their morning cup of coffee, cyclists can go out and enjoy biking on some of the best trails in the state of Minnesota. Our favorite biking trail in the Leech Lake area is the Heartland Trail. Measuring out to 49 miles, you’ll be able to spend days exploring on your bike.
Remember, a Leech Lake based gift certificate makes the perfect gift as well if you can’t decide on just one item!
Wishing you a happy holiday season, and looking forward to seeing you at Leech Lake soon. Book your winter vacation now!
