Report from the Dock

Despite favorable weather over the past week, it appears as though the open water fishing has officially come to an end for the vast majority of anglers across the state. While there have been a few people fishing for muskies or walleyes, and some fish are being caught in select areas, most anglers are done and they are waiting for cold air to move in and ice to start developing. With the exception of some very limited shoreline ice in a few far northern locations, there was no ice to be found early this week in Minnesota.

Leech Lake Report

The nice weather allowed for some activity on the lake last week and a few walleyes were caught with a jig and minnow on the points and shoreline breaks in 8 to 12 feet. There were also a few muskie anglers out with limited success being reported. Grouse hunting reports continue be favorable, and there ha been quite a few people still hunting for them.

Report from the Dock It’s unfortunate that most boats have been put away for the season, especially because the recent warmup is certainly providing an extension to the open-water fishing season. Those who didn’t pack their summer gear away are doing well, mostly fishing for walleyes or muskies. There have also been some decent walleye […]

Report from the Dock Fishing activity has been light during the past week, although the weather is still allowing people to get out. It’s mostly been walleye and muskie anglers, and they are having some success with not much competition on the water. Grouse reports are still solid, but duck and goose numbers don’t seem […]

Report from the Dock There was a nice push of cool air into the state this week, which has finally started to drop water temperatures. In most locations, water temps were in the mid-50-degree range early this week, and they should continue to drop given weather conditions heading into the weekend. Walleyes seem to be […]

Report from the Dock This week’s cooler weather has made it feel a little bit more like the fall fishing season is approaching. It certainly feels better than last week’s summer-like heat, and a few fall-like trends have started to develop. Minnows have produced more walleyes this week than last, although nightcrawlers are still turning […]
