Report from the Dock

Fishing reports have been light and we’re down to just the hardcore walleye and muskie anglers at this point, although those venturing out are doing well. It sounds like a nice weather weekend coming up to hunt or fish, so good luck, no matter what you do.

Leech Lake Report

There’s been more hunting than fishing taking place throughout the area this week. The few anglers heading out are pitching or rigging minnows for walleyes in the Narrows, Hardwoods, Stoney Point, and Sand Point in less than 6 feet. Muskies are also being found in shallow water, hitting sucker minnows, on the weeds and shorelines in Walker Bay or main lake flats. Hunters are reporting good grouse hunting and amped-up deer movement. There have been a few northern ducks moving in, but still not a big push of birds as of early this week.

The anglers who continue to fish are doing well, with walleyes, crappies, and muskies providing quality fish-catching opportunities statewide. Walleyes are being found in several distinct locations: shallow […]

Report from the Dock The one constant theme this week is that the number of people fishing has noticeably dropped off. Those who still have their boats out are doing quite well for walleyes, panfish, pike, and bass, especially with water temperatures finally starting to go down. A jig and minnow is the go-to presentation […]

Report from the Dock Slowly, anglers are starting to see some fall walleye patterns develop even though water temperatures remain warmer than they should be this time of year. With some cooler weather in the forecast this week, the fall walleye bite should improve quickly over shallow water in most areas. Look for shorelines, points, […]

Report from the Dock It was a nice weather weekend for fishing and activity was strong in most areas. It sounds as though walleye anglers are starting to transition back to minnows, although crawlers and crankbaits are still producing fish. Water temperatures are cooling down and that seems to keep the fish active for longer […]
