Amoore Bakery and Coffee

This bakery offers baked goods made from scratch. There are sweets to suit various dietary restrictions, such as blueberry wild rice muffins. In addition, they serve craft coffee drinks brewed from beans from a local roaster.

 

Bar & Grill

Bayside Bar & Grill

This bar and grill offers fun bar food like hot and salty pretzels and chicken green chili. With respect to the burgers and cheesesteaks, this is the place to get your fish on. Besides the fish tacos and fish and chips, they feature a walleye “sammich” which is their specialty. There are daily food and drink specials and they are open seven days a week.

This is a family-fun place as all good barbecue joints should be. They have patio seating where you can sit and share your brisket or pulled pork with your dog. There’s a long table inside to accommodate large groups or to pull up a bench and make new friends. They offer take-out of course and catering.

Portage Brewing Company

Enjoy theme nights, like Bingo, Brats, and Beers or Pints and Pie. The local brewery to check out when you’re in town!  They offer a Morning Oats Stout, a Coffee Cake Blonde, a Mango and Sticky Rice IPA, and a Gingerbread Cookie Stout. They are open year-round.

Leech Lake area’s fine dining option. Steak and lobster is a specialty along with many other delicious options. When you’ve finished your meal, the casino features a River of Stars Cabaret. Entertainment includes MMA fights, poker tournaments, and more.

The 502 Chase on the Lake

Just a block from the main street you’ll find the largest Leech Lake lakeside patio with lake views that go on for miles! The food is evolving and offers a variety for even the pickiest of eaters. The view is sublime, with seating right on the water’s edge. When you’re not indulging in their dining delights, try The Copper Door Spa for chakra, hot stone, foot massages, Reiki, wraps, mani-pedis, and facials, among other services and packages.

Best patio seating and hand-dipped ice cream at “The Village”. If it’s chilly out, warm up in the loft with a hot caramel cider or by the fireplace with a peppermint mocha. The delicious pizza is a must-try along with many other delicious Italian and American-style fare options.

Large groups and fun family times can be found at Benson’s all year round! Stop in for delicious pizza and American fare, great service, and game-day specials.  Settle in for happy hour specials and full bar selections to suit all spectators!

 

Sports Bar

Wilbur’s on Walker Bay

This is the place to come to catch the game. Sports are playing on 19 TVs. Enjoy outdoor seating if you’re after a conversation instead of surround sound. If you’d rather play than watch, there are darts and pool and games for the family. The menu is wings and burgers and dog and brats – but there’s a fish and chips option and even a jackfruit option for vegetarians. Don’t forget the cheese curds! People sometimes pop in here off the bike trail across the street.

 

Winery

Forest Edge Winery

A nice side trip from the lake brings you to Paul Bunyan State Forest. Wines here are light, dry, crisp, and clean with notes of the fruits and berries and rhubarb of Northern Winter. In addition to the forest and wines, there is also an art gallery here where you can buy jewelry, pottery, and more made by local artists. The winery occasionally features live music in the folk, pop, jazz, and classic rock genres.
