Bayside Resort on Leech Lake is known for being a family fishing destination. Located on a smaller bay of Leech Lake, Bayside Resort is great for fishing, as well as providing protection from most incliment weather that may come in. For fisherman, they have  new fishing boats available, free fish cleaning services and onsite bait and gas.  The resort is family friendly, with a lodge that has pool table, pinball, darts.  The beach has free kayaks, water trampoline and paddle boat.  There is also a nice playground, bonfire pits, horseshoes, volleyball court and basketball hoop available.

The atmosphere at the resort is relaxed and family oriented. Among their top amenities available include a water trampoline, brand new deluxe rental boats, free fish cleaning services, and free wi-fi Internet access from every cabin. Those amenities, as well as the amazing views of the sunsets, make this resort one of a kind.

Bob Huewe, the owner of the property, states that his favorite part of running the resort is “Meeting new guests every year and visiting with returning guests during their stay.”

He believe that the best part of Bayside Resort is “the feel of being on a much smaller lake but still have access to the larger waters of Minnesota’s third largest lake.  Besides the resort amenities and the opportunites the lake provides, Leech Lake and Bayside Resort is conveniently located close to many attractions including: the town of Walker, the Headwaters of the Mississippi, multiple golf courses and 3 casinos.”

Some favorite stories from the resort life and guests at the property include a guest from New Jersey that told them at morning coffee that he sat up the night before and spoke with the ghost of his deceased mother.  He even set a place at the dinner table for her every night. Another cool fact is that Bayside Resort has been the site of multiple trainings for the Leech Lake Dive Team.

Back in July of 1999, one of Bayside’s septic fields went out and required extensive excavating.  During that same time a massive storm hit the north central Minnesota area including Bayside.  Bayside Resort lost 25 trees during the storm and fortunately each tree fell in between the guest’s vehicles.  The resort looked like a war zone. The power was out for 3 days and toilets were flushed by bucketing water from the lake.  To thank their guests for their patience, they had a huge pizza party at the end of their stay.
