Leech Lake Fishing Report for June 12th, 2025
June 12, 2025
Report from the Dock
Water temperatures continued to jump up and down over the past week due to weather patterns that seem to change almost daily. This roller coaster of weather and water temperature changes seems to have fish scattered all over the place. Bluegills still haven’t finished spawning in many areas, so some are being found as shallow as 3 feet, while others have now moved deeper to developing weedlines and weedbeds. For the most part, the same seems to be true for largemouth bass, although bigger bass have definitely been more weed-related than shallow this week. The shallow-water walleye bites around points, rocks, humps, and shoreline breaks is hanging in there as well, again due to water temperatures that really aren’t as warm as they should be, and minnows continue to turn plenty of walleyes as well. The one noticeable change over the past week is that walleyes have also started relating to developing weedlines.
Leech Lake Fishing Report
Slip bobber rigs and jigs tipped with leeches or a piece of crawler started producing walleyes in the 10- to 14-foot weeds in Sucker Bay. The 15-to 20-foot rock humps or reefs throughout the main lake are also giving up walleyes on slip bobbers or spinner rigs and crawlers. Smallmouth bass are hitting shallow-running crankbaits along the rocky shorelines, while the reeds or cabbage in Boy Bay and Portage Bay are giving up panfish.
