Leech Lake Fishing Report for June 5th, 2025
June 5, 2025
Report from the Dock
Despite the up-and-down temperature swings and somewhat regular weather changes, walleye action has remained pretty solid across the state. For the most part, shallow depths continue to produce more fish than do deep water or deep structure areas. There have been a lot of walleyes caught in the 8- to 15-foot range again this week, along with plenty of walleyes now relating to emerging weedlines or weedbeds in less than 15 feet. The minnow bite is hanging in there, but leeches, nightcrawlers, and crankbaits are also turning good numbers of walleyes; it just depends on the lake. Bluegills and bass continue to be found along shorelines and docks as they continue to spawn or wrap up their spawn; it just depends on what water temperatures are in a given area. With cooler weather this week, it’s likely the shallow spawning areas will continue to produce bluegills and bass for at least one more weekend in many areas.
Leech Lake Fishing Report
Anglers are finding big pods of walleyes on the main-lake reefs in 13 to 20 feet, and most are being caught with a live-bait rig and crawler or a jig and piece of crawler. A jig and crawler are also producing walleyes in 8 to 12 feet out from Five Mile Point. Look for crappies and largemouth bass in the emerging cabbage and bluegills in the reeds throughout most bays.
