Taking a bike ride or walk on one of the area trails is one of the best ways to experience the fall colors. The Paul Bunyan trail is the longest Minnesota bike trail and offers 112 miles of fall sightseeing. Other biking and walking trails near Walker include the Heartland Trail that runs from Walker to Park Rapids and the North Country National Scenic Trail.

The Walleye in Leech Lake increase their feeding patterns in the fall to ready themselves for winter and can be found in abundance on the major points of the lake, including Cedar, Sugar, Roger’s, Stoney, Pine, Hardwood and Ottertail points.
