Winter Activites

March 1, 2013

Winter seems like it’s here to stay. Some of you may love the winter and never want it to end, but for those of you who are just waiting for spring and can’t think of things to do in Leech Lake don’t fret, we have year round activities to get you through what’s left of winter.

Leech Lake has a hand full of attractions to keep you preoccupied. The first one is to visit the Leech Lake Brewing Company.  Stop in a try one of their many beers and if you have a favorite you can purchase a growler and enjoy in the comfort of your warm home or while you stay at one of the many Leech Lake lodging options. There is also the Forestedge Winery in Laporte, MN located on the edge of the Paul Bunyan State Forest. Forestedge Winery and Farm offers not only many elegant fruit wines but they also have a gallery with fine crafts made by Minnesota Artists.

Another attraction around the Leech Lake area is horseback riding. This may be something you may have not considered trying in the winter but Pine River Riding Stable is open year round, 7 days a week.  They offer lessons, group riding and a petting zoo. They go by reservation so they do not have set times. You can give them a call and make reservations and enjoy a winter ride.

After you are done checking out the brewing company, the winery  and Pine River Riding Stable you can grab a bite to eat an one of our many Leech Lake restaurants like Café Zona Rosa, Luck Moose Bar and Grill, Iron Fire Bar and Grill, The Boulders and many more to choose from. Each one is sure not to disappoint your taste buds.

Leech Lake is filled with year round attractions to fill everyone’s needs. So book your stay at one of our many Leech Lake lodging options and see what Leech Lake has to offer you!
