When you think of the Leech Lake Area Activities, things that come to mind are fishing, ice fishing, camping, snowmobiling or outdoor recreational activities. All of these activites are favorites for the people who live here and even those who like to plan a Minnesota vacation. But what about some of the Leech Lake area activities that aren’t so well known?
Walker is just a short distance from Leech Lake and offer an ample amount of fun and interesting activities that many people may not be aware of. For instance, if you like to shop, Walker offers many antiques and collectible shops, retail shopping, and more. The Heritage Arts, Gifts & Antiques store on fifth is perfect if you are looking for a unique collection of decorative accessories, antique furniture and home décor. They have been family owned and operated for over 40 years, and it’s just a short drive from many Leech Lake locations.
Another little known resource for great activities is the Walker Area Community Center. Each year on Leech Lake they host a Polar Pout Plunge! You can jump, flip, belly-flop, or dance you way into Leech Lake’s icy waters to benefit the Walker Area Community Center. All the money raised goes to the WACC which is home to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Walker Rotary Club, Leech Lake Area Youth Hockey, and the Walker Curling Club.
