Ice Fishing on Leech Lake 2014

Ice Fishing on Leech Lake 2014

January 17, 2014

Have you taken a Leech Lake ice fishing trip yet this winter? If not, what are you waiting for! Leech Lake is known for its excellent ice fishing conditions, and this year is no different!

The latest fishing report for Leech Lake recommends trying your hand at ice fishing in Walker Bay, since slush is currently limiting travel on the main lake. Walker Bay is producing walleyes especially during the evenings in 15 to 20 feet or on the humps in 30 to 35 feet. If you do want to venture out on the main lake, snowmobiles are your best bet.

Another place to try your hand on Leech Lake is Sand Point, which is producing walleyes, pike and perch in nine to 15 feet. Cedar Point is another option for catching some walleye in 15 to 18 feet.

If you decide to make the trip to Leech Lake for some ice fishing, why not make it a weekend event and book a stay at one of our many area resorts! The Leech Lake area offers a variety of resorts that are open in the winter and are the perfect place to relax after a long day on the lake and share you best ice fishing stories.

Many of the resorts even offer ice house rentals, so you can stay on the ice your entire weekend! If you don’t have your own ice house, renting one from one of the area resorts is convenient and will allow you to spend the most time possible doing what you love: fishing!

As you can see, there is no better place to take an ice fishing getaway this winter than Leech Lake! Book your trip today; we hope to see you soon out on the lake!
