Giving Thanks

November 21, 2012

The day is drawing near, when families near and far will gather ‘round the table to carve the annual turkey. As the smell of pumpkin pie fills the house and your relatives discuss the latest election, a warm holiday cheer spreads throughout you. It’s the time of year to be thankful; thankful for all that you have been blessed with, and for those who are dear to you.

The Leech Lake area is buzzing with the excitement of this cherished holiday. Chase on the Lake is offering a delicious Thanksgiving buffet along with hot apple cider served daily, and cookie/ornament decorating activities for the whole family.

The Festival of Lights parade in downtown Walker is always a favorite this time of year. The city is adorned from one end to the other with glowing lights, twinkling trees and sparkling store fronts. The parade begins Friday at 6pm, and the fun continues throughout the weekend!

On Saturday the Reindeer Run in Walker begins at 10am and the first 150 participants for this run/walk will receive a knit Reindeer Run stocking cap. Also on Saturday from 1-3pm you and the family can take part in the “Charlie Brown Christmas Party downstairs at the Legion. Enjoy activities, food, and fun for everyone! On Sunday don’t miss the newest addition to the fun, the “Holiday in Song” concert at the Community Church of Walker.

This time of year is a time for family; It is a time to spend with loved ones cherishing all that we have. So from all of us at the Leech Lake Tourism Bureau, Happy Thanksgiving!
