21st Annual Ethnic Fest

21st Annual Ethnic Fest

August 28, 2013

The 21st annual Ethnic Fest in Walker, MN, will take place this year on September 13th and 14th. These festivities, sponsored by the Leech Lake Chamber, include activities that the whole family can enjoy!

Ethnic Fest celebrates the various cultures that our ancestors brought to the area when they left their homelands long ago. These festivities will feature cuisine from many cultures, and the streets will be filled with booths offering crafts from different countries. To get into Ethnic Fest you will need to purchase a button. The cost will be $8 for one button or $15 for two. The money made from these buttons helps support the event every year.

The festivities will start on Friday night with live music from The Calgary Fiddlers playing at Calvary Free Evangelical Church. The music will go from 7:00 to 9:30 pm.

Ethnic Fest offers many kid friendly activities, including a parade on Main Street starting at 11:00 am on Saturday morning. There will also be bubble station races and face painting afterwards on the Court House lawn from noon to 4 pm.

All the craft vendors will be located on 5th street and the food vendors will be on the Court House lawn. There will also be a “No Class” Car Show at Walker City Park. Live music will be playing starting at noon on Saturday featuring music from all over the world! There will be three stages located on 4th and 5th street.

Ethnic Fest will go well into the night on Saturday with more live music at various locations and restaurants around town.

If you’re looking to learn a little about the different cultures around the world, Ethnic Fest is the perfect place for you! Make sure you stop by Walker on September 13th and 14th to enjoy all the festivities.
